When Real Live Angels filmmaker Brent Weber needed to put a “face” on the movie, he turned to an artist new to Oklahoma but one who understood how to simply capture the joy of the movie in a smile.
“Jime (Alena Wimmer) and her husband Mike have long been friends of mine, and while Mike may be the more ‘famous’ artist and a celebrated children’s book illustrator, I knew it was Jime who could provide the beauty for this very important request,” said Weber. “She is a mother, a teacher, a modern spirit and someone who understands the digital art world, too. She created a very simple angel whose smile and loving, outstretched arms brought tears of joy to my face when I first saw it. And that is what I wanted to represent this documentary.”
Jime Alena Wimmer earned her MFA in Illustration with Hartford University in Connecticut and her BS in Art Education with Keystone College in Pennsylvania. In 2013 she relocated from upstate New York, where she was teaching young artists, to Oklahoma with her now husband, Mike Wimmer, after they met in graduate school. Jime is the art teacher for Edmond Memorial High School and an adjunct art instructor at the University of Central Oklahoma. Jime is the creator of Prettylines and is currently working on her first children’s book. She resides in Edmond with her husband Mike and son Brodie.
